Why I can't find Sophie Dahl attractive any more.
Remember Sophie Dahl’s TV programme where she talked about fennel or something whilst being whimsical about things? Anyway, I mentioned on Twitter that she wasn’t hard too look at and someone (can’t remember for certain who now, might have been that @superblouse) fired back one word that ruined everything - Waybuloo. Oh well. Another attraction stomped all over. A...

Gravestone with nothing to make you snigger on it
I took this because there was nothing childish or juvenile about the name, nor the carving of the leaf. Posted via email from Binary Dad’s posterous | Comment »

Meuh-huh (40 seconds of brill)
Stumbled upon this just now, having completely forgotten about it. It’s basically a loop I made using a Kaossilator. I likes it. Don’t know if anyone else will. Anyway, here it is… Meuh-huh.mp3 Listen on Posterous Posted via email from Binary Dad’s posterous | Comment »

Photography - Lining up the shot
As some of you know, I’ve become a keen photographer (quick plug - head over to http://binarydad.co.uk to see and buy prints). Some people have asked how I manage to get such good shots using a humble iPhone, and I always say it’s about lining up the shot. For example, this statue, which sits out side the Keepmoat Statium in Doncaster, South Yorks, seemed to me to be full of...

The Furtive Elephant
Couple of years agoo - before I found out that @lauriepink lived about 50 yards away from me - I saw her Tweet people asking for things to draw. I, naturally, asked for a picture of an elephant, furtively playing with itself. She drew this… And now, it has become a T-shirt that ANYONE can buy. Please do. You can buy it here. What is gay?
King Missile - Gay Not Gay I think this is pretty funny. Taken lightly. King_Missile_-_Gay_Not_Gay.mp3 Listen on Posterous I saw an episode of the Jerry Springer show and the topic was "Tranvestites and the Men Who Love Them." And the guy who was on with his "girlfriend" was saying "To me, this is a beautiful woman. She's got a perfect body, beautiful blonde hair, everything. ...

Alice
Pogo’s wonderful ambient mashing of Alice doesn’t officially exist on the web after Disney asked all clips to be taken down (they’ve comissioned offical works from him, so I assume this was part of the deal). But, this is just TOO GOOD not to be kept online.
Alice from Binary Dad on Vimeo.
Posted via email from Binary Dad’s...

Synechdoche New York
I need to watch this again. In an age where mainstream films seem dumber than before (seem, I can’t be definite, maybe it’s me that’s changed, not them) this film has stood apart from any other I’ve seen in recent years. It teems with ideas. I won’t try and put this in context. Just go seek it out and learn something about yourself. “Everything is more complicated...

Download now or listen on posterous gaGGp63jSnqppldtwSFitv5Do1.mp3 (7566 KB) More electronica. I did this one in Reason. Model v Reality
In the National Railway Museum, in York, I came across the the original 1960s architects model of Euston Station before it was rebuilt in the late 60s. As I happen to regularly work in one of the buildings in that area, I wanted to take a pic of the model from the same vantage point I could get from the top floor of the real building and compare the two. It’s kinda interesting. Here is the...

Jurassic Park Theme (1000% FASTER)
There’s a link doing the rounds of the Jurassic Park Theme 1000% Slower. It’s actually quite beautiful. But I’m not sure if it makes sense to claim something is 1000% slower. (Doubtless the more erudite among you can put me right on this.) Anyway, if the original theme becomes this thing of wonder and beauty slowed down, you’re bound to be wondering if speeding it up...

My favourite derelict pub
Plymouth Grove pub. Manchester, built circa 1874. Some buildings, when in a decrepit state particularly, just get an aura. This is one of them. The bell tower, in particular, just seems such a delightful architectural folly and really marks it out. Now, boarded up, neglected, it sits sullen and brooding. I expect it will be demolished soon, and that, my chums, will be a real shame. See and...

Chris Morris v Piers Morgan
Ah. Flexi discs. Free with magazines. Poor quality. You had to put a coin on them to stop them slipping. But every now and then a gem. In 1992 Select gave one away that featured the largely unknown Chris Morris. It featured the superb Pixies spoof featured elsewhere on this blog and this, an interview with Piers Morgan who was just the young and ambitious pop editor at the Sun in those days. It...

No, I Don't Remember Guildford - Robyn Hitchcock
Regular visitors to the blog will have twigged that I’m a big Robyn Hitchcock fan. I can’t really explain why. I think it’s because he’s a man in love with language and ideas. He’s not for everyone. But if you’re not afraid of a little introspection in your songs, if you don’t flinch at humour or sadness, then he’s really like no one else. This...

I, fuckwit.
Yesterday, I thought of something slightly amusing to say about about a pic of Stephen Fry I saw on the Guardian website. Normally, I post stuff with pics or videos on this blog. Try and generate a bit of traffic and promote stuff I like by mysef and other people. However, for no particular reason, yesterday I shoved it on Twitpic instead. I thought it was just a throwawat Tweet. Might get a...
